Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective order fulfillment. This role leads the shipping team, coordinates carrier pickups, ensures compliance with company and regulatory standards, and drives continuous improvement in shipping processes and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily outbound shipping operations, including picking verification, packing, labeling, and staging
- Lead and support shipping team members to meet productivity and accuracy targets
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and resolve shipping issues
- Ensure all shipments are processed accurately within established timelines
- Verify shipping documentation and compliance requirements
- Monitor shipping metrics such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and freight costs
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Maintain organized staging areas and dock management procedures
- Enforce safety protocols and proper material handling practices
- Collaborate with inventory, receiving, intake, and customer service teams to resolve discrepancies
- Conduct training, scheduling, and performance evaluations for shipping staff
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–5 years of warehouse experience, with strong focus on shipping operations
- 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with shipping systems and carrier software platforms
- Knowledge of freight processes (LTL, FTL, parcel, international shipping preferred)
- Forklift certification preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Working Conditions
- Warehouse and dock environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- May require overtime, weekends, or extended hours during peak shipping periods
